雪と少女

　「行ってきます!」

　小学校1年生の女の子が学校に行く時間です。「お昼から雨が降りそうだから、傘を持って行ってね」お母さんが女の子に傘を渡しました。女の子は、元気よく、学校へ歩いて行きました。午後になると風が強く吹き、雨が激しく降り始めました。雷も鳴り、ときどき雷の光が鋭いナイフのように暗い空を切り裂きます。お母さんは娘のことが心配になったので、車で迎えに行くことにしました。しばらく運転していると、女の子が歩いているのが見えました。雷が光ると、女の子は立ち止まり、空を見てにっこりとほほ笑みました。その後も、雷が光ると、女の子はまた空を見上げてほほ笑むのです。

　お母さんは車で近づくと、「何してるの?　雷が怖くないの?」と、女の子に尋ねました。

　女の子は答えました。「うん、怖くないよ。空が何回も私の写真を撮ってくれるんだもの」

"I'm off!"　

It is time for a first grade girl to go to school. Her mother handed her an umbrella. The girl walked cheerfully to school. In the afternoon, the wind blew strongly and the rain began to fall heavily. Thunder rumbled and sometimes lightning slashed the dark sky like sharp knives. The mother was worried about her daughter, so she decided to drive to pick her up. After driving for a while, she saw a girl walking. When the lightning flashed, the girl stopped, looked at the sky, and smiled. After that, when the lightning flashed, the girl looked up at the sky again and smiled.

　Her mother drove up to her and asked, "What are you doing? Aren't you afraid of the lightning?" The mother asked the girl, "Aren't you afraid of the thunder?

　The girl replied, "No, I'm not afraid of thunder. Yes, I'm not afraid. The sky takes my picture many times.
